COMMUNITY BASED PROGRAM

Provides young people, ages 13-21, the opportunity to develop in a community based, family environment in southern West Virginia. Each home has the capacity for 6-8 residents. Referrals are accepted through the West Virginia Department of Health & Human Resources. 

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

  • Individualized treatment planning & supportive counseling.

  • Utilization of modified House Parent model to provide a more consistent family atmosphere. 

  • Supportive environment to help residents adjust and maintain positive and constructive behaviors in a community setting. 

  • Attendance of local public schools.

  • College-age students have access to local universities.

  • Participation in many community events and activities such as sports, youth groups, community employment, and charitable opportunities. 

  • Therapy services provided by local mental health professionals. 

  • Opportunity to participate in both school-based and recreational team sports.

  • Active relationship with local churches and civic organizations such as youth groups, Ruritan, and Elks Club(s).

  • High School Equivalency Program available.

  • Vocational education and night classes.

  • Access to city of Lewisburg which has many cultural attractions including: Greenbrier Valley Theatre, Carnegie Hall, The State Fair of West Virginia, The Greenbrier Resort, and so much more

  • Access to Mercer County which was rated among top 100 Communities for Youth by America's Promise-The Alliance Youth. 1

Davis Stuart provides regular home visits to support family reunification. 

THE ALICIA McCORMICK HOUSE - MAXWELTON

  • Capacity of 6-8 females.

  • Therapy services provided by local mental health professionals within the community.

  • Residents attend Greenbrier East High School or Eastern Greenbrier Middle School.

  • Opportunity to participate in both school-based and recreational team sports.

  • Ability to attend New River Community and Technical College while maintaining a residence in the group home. 

  • Access to city of Lewisburg which has many cultural attractions includes Greenbrier Valley Theater, Carnegie Hall, and Trillium Performing Arts Center. 

  • Active relationship with local churches and civic organizations such as youth groups, Ruritan, and Elks Club.

  • Aftercare services available in Greenbrier County area through Home Base Inc.

 

PRINCETON GROUP HOME

  • Capacity of 6-8 males.

  • Therapy services provided by local mental health professionals within the community.

  • Residents attend Princeton High School or Princeton Middle School.

  • High School Equivalency Program available through Mercer County Workforce Office.

  • Vocational education and night classes available through Princeton High School

  • Ability to attend Bluefield State College while maintaining a residence in the group home. 

  • Local library within walking distance. 

  • Located near many recreational activities including City Park, four additional community parks, pool, recreation center, and numerous recreation programs, and activities.
